Your Storage is 96% Full
Month of Structure | FreeStack
“There is absolutely no way I can keep going like this.”
That was the thought stuck in my body last week.
Over the past few months I have created more than 10 new programs, participated in collaborations, consistently taught yoga online and in person, navigated the ending of 3 relationships, and stepped into a new connection and partnership.
None of those things are bad.
I hold the belief that all things happen for me not to me.
But, somewhere along the way, I realized, my storage is full. Not because life is falling apart.
But because life keeps expanding.
There is a difference.
When your storage is full, even good things start to feel heavy. New opportunities feel more like obligations. Excitement gets replaced by pressure. Inspiration starts sounding suspiciously like exhaustion.
So I've decided to clear some space.
Take Time To Clear It Out
The timing feels almost poetic.
The Summer Solstice has just passed. July marks the beginning of Q3. Whether you follow seasonal rhythms or not, there is something powerful about pausing long enough to ask:
“What still belongs here?”
Over the next week, I’ll be doing a major purge.
Some of it will be physical.
Some of it will be emotional.
Some of it will be expectations, identities, and stories I’ve been carrying longer than necessary.
Not because they’re wrong.
Because they’re complete.
Settle First
One thing I consistently return to during times of transition is this:
Settle before you sprint.
Most people try to force change.
Your nervous system usually has other plans.
Even positive change can feel threatening when it arrives too quickly. Part of creating a smoother transition is helping your body recognize that it is safe.
Safe to let go, choose differently, become someone new.
For me, that means returning to meditation every day.
Not to fix myself.
Not to become more productive.
Just to remember that I am already here.
Feel What is True
The next step is sensation.
Feeling is often the pathway to healing.
Before we can know what is aligned, we have to notice what is happening inside of us.
Not what sounds good.
Not what looks good.
Not what everyone else is doing.
What actually feels true.
This is the phase where I come back to my body.
Sometimes that looks like somatic movement.
Sometimes it looks like fifty jumps when I first wake up.
Sometimes it looks like twerking in the mirror. Aaaaayyyyeeeee!
The practice itself isn’t important.
The feeling is.
Trust Yourself
Once you’ve created space and reconnected with your body, trust becomes easier.
Not effortless.
Just easier.
You begin to recognize your own yes.
You begin to recognize your own no.
And from there, the next step becomes obvious.
I’ve used this process over and over again throughout my life. Every major shift has required some version of releasing, settling, feeling, and trusting.
This season is no different.
Your Ideal Self Already Exists
The truth is, your ideal self isn’t waiting somewhere in the future.
Your ideal self is simply who you are becoming right now.
Growth isn’t a destination.
It’s a relationship.
You’ll outgrow things.
You’ll evolve.
You’ll change your mind.
You’ll discover new dreams.
That’s not failure.
That’s life.
So if you’re feeling full right now, maybe your next step isn’t doing more.
Maybe it’s making room.
